The 2015 Golden Globes, overall not too shabby

How quickly time flies! Can you believe its award season in Hollywood again? (Although at this point there’s really no “season” per say, as there’s different awards held all year long.) And as I’m sure you know at this point (unless you live under a rock), the 72 annual Golden Globe Awards were held last night (Sunday, January 11). Long touted as Hollywood’s biggest party and well known for its long line of drunk (and drunker as the night wears on) celebrity speeches, the Golden Globes almost never disappoint. Last night was no exception with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosting for the fi...

I’m going to attempt to sum up all that 2014 was to the world of cinema. I’m almost certain that at this point you’re thinking “Oh no! Not another year-end list!” This won’t be just a list though, so please…keep reading! (Although there will be a few small lists as well).
I’m going to get this portion out of the way now so that we can move on to lighter matters. We lost some true masters of film this year; people who’s shoes no one could ever fill, and it’s my hope that no one ever tries. The list includes, but is not limited to:
Phillip Seymore Hoffman,
Lauren Bacall...

With Christmas and other gift giving holidays fast approaching I thought it appropriate to give a list of some of my all-time favorite movies. Some are kind of obscure, some are bigger titles, but they’re all well worth your viewing time, so… here they are in no particular order, (I couldn’t decide how to rank them) enjoy!
The Lego Movie:an everyday Lego figure is sent on the adventure of a lifetime when he’s mistaken for “The Special”; the one who will fulfill a prophecy. This one is on my list for a few reasons. The jokes delivered by the LONG list of celebrities in this on...

Today I’m highlighting the imminent danger of closing our nation’s drive ins are in, with special attention on one in particular: The Weirs Drive In, in Weirs NH.
Some of the first memories I have of seeing movies (although I couldn’t tell you which movies they were) are of my parents packing me into the back of their giant old station wagon in my pajamas to go to the local drive in. As I said, I don’t remember what I saw, but I can remember vividly playing in the back of that huge car, stuffing my face with popcorn and cuddling up to fall asleep half way through wh...

Someday You'll Find It,
The Burton Connection...

I’ve been a huge fan of all things Tim Burton for years. With so many great movies under his belt, such as Beetlejuice, Big Fish, Sleepy Hollow and many more, it’s no wonder that he has such a broad appeal. Until recently I hadn’t given these films so much as a second thought past the enjoyment I get from watching them. It was during a recent airing of Corpse Bride on the Disney Channel that my husband suggested that perhaps there are some deeper connections between at least Burton’s stop animation movies, if not most of the original films he’sever made. This got me thinking, and digging, in a...

2014 New Hampshire Film Festival:
Bigger and Better Than Ever!

As we approach the end of October, the 2014 New Hampshire Film Festival has now come and gone. With these sorts of things the phrase “bigger and better than ever” gets thrown around so much it’s almost cliché, but in the case of this year’s NHFF it’s true.
There really was something for everyone as this year’s festival featured over 100 films of all types and budgets. There were feature length films and documentaries, as well as short films and documentaries, music videos, animation and a showcase of New Hampshire made films. The hardest part was deciding what to see....
