Some of my favorite things...

With Christmas and other gift giving holidays fast approaching I thought it appropriate to give a list of some of my all-time favorite movies. Some are kind of obscure, some are bigger titles, but they’re all well worth your viewing time, so… here they are in no particular order, (I couldn’t decide how to rank them) enjoy!

The Lego Movie:an everyday Lego figure is sent on the adventure of a lifetime when he’s mistaken for “The Special”; the one who will fulfill a prophecy. This one is on my list for a few reasons. The jokes delivered by the LONG list of celebrities in this one can’t really be topped. The CGI is so phenomenal that it’s truly difficult to tell if it was stop motion or CGI. And finally, it’s more than appropriate for the whole family because “Everything is Awesome!”

The Color Purple:A woman who’s married at a young age to an abusive husband with too many kids and separated from her sister must find the strength and courage to survive.I can’t possibly tell you the number of times I’ve watched this one, but I always end up with tears in my eyes! Just an all-around wonderful movie!

True Romance:A man and his new wife go up against drug dealers in unexpected ways. I stumbled upon this movie purely by accident and was so happy I did. It’s got action, it’s got romance and it’s got adventure…what more could you want?

Labyrinth: A girl must make her way to the castle at the middle of a labyrinth to save her little brother from the king. I’ve watched this one at least once a year since I was 5 years old and never get tired of it! This is a true 80’s classic.

Sin City: Three separate stories of corruption and violence take place in Basin City. I’m not sure why I love this one so much, since I’m not usually a fan of comic book movies. There’s just something about it that draws me in every time!

Guardians of the Galaxy: A treasure hunter must team up with an unlikely band of misfits to defeat Ronin before he destroys the universe. Here’s another comic book movie that I absolutely adore. I’m not sure if I would’ve liked it nearly as much without Chris Pratt in the lead role (since he nailed it!), but luckily I don’t have to worry about that. This one’s out of this galaxy! (ha ha ha)

This is by no means a complete list, but I hope it helps you decide on something a little different to watch this season. I'll add more as time goes on. And who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite in here as well!
